  • 1. Ocean Drive

The epitome of the “American Riviera.” Sit in a café, or cruise up and down the strip in a convertible, on skates, or simply on foot. And, of course, if you’ve got it – the buff bod, golden tan, and all – Ocean Drive is the place to show it off.

  • 2. CocoWalk

A host of select shops, restaurants, outdoor cafés, and a cineplex provides the entertainment. But, here in the heart of the Grove, it’s great just to hang out and listen to the live band playing most of the time on the balcony above.

  • 3. Bayside Marketplace

Never a dull moment in Downtown Miami’s hottest daytime spot, featuring boutiques, live music, street performers, and ethnic dining right on the marina (see Bayside Marketplace and Bayfront Park).

  • 4. Lincoln Road Mall

Second only to Ocean Drive in its star-quality appeal. Lined with sculpture-fountains and plants, this pedestrian area with its outdoor eateries is always lively. Score, at No. 727, is very good after dark (see Lincoln Road Markets).

  • 5. Terrace at the Tides

Try the famous Tropical Popsicle Martini as you watch the people go by. Popular with celebrities, look around, you might be dining side by side with the rich and famous.

  • 6. Clevelander

This hotel’s daytime beachfront cafés evolve into one of SoBe’s top pool-bar scenes after dark. Its proximity to the beach inspires a more casual style than the usual nightspots, and there’s always a crowd to enjoy happy hour and live music.

  • 7. The Forge

A 70-year institution and a perennial favorite with celebrities such as Madonna and Michael Jordan. There are atmospheric themed rooms, such as the Library, and the overall mood is cozy and romantic. The menu favors old fashioned staples, like steaks and chocolate soufflé, and there’s a formidable wine cellar.

  • 8. Commodore Plaza

Coconut Grove’s second most frequented spot is this intersection, where every corner features a top viewing position for the constant circulation of pedestrian traffic, everyone scoping out a café or restaurant, and each other. Try the Green Street Café.

  • 9. Hollywood Broadwalk

A rare swath of beach where a 2.5-mile (4-km) pedestrian walkway fronts directly on the sand, just to the north of Miami Beach. It’s non-stop surfside fun all the way, with loads of revelers of all kinds cruising up and down (see The Broadwalk).

  • 10. Mallory Square, Key West

Especially at sunset, this huge square at the Gulf end of Duval Street is a gathering place for all sorts of locals and visitors. Street performers keep it lively, and there are plenty of vendors of food and souvenirs (see Mallory Square).
