  • This is a hugely chic spot for gays, lesbians, and heterosexuals. Soul City’s DJs play everything from house to soul to easy listening music. This is a trend-setting club, frequented by a young, hip crowd. There are various shows and special events held in the club – check the daily papers for listings.

  • Hip dance club known as a meeting place for the gay community, but equally popular with other partygoers.

  • Dating from the 14th century, the brewery is named after the 16th-century Spatt family.

  • Frequented by museum visitors and the fashionable crowd, this café has one of Munich’s most beautiful courtyard beer gardens. Alcoholic beverages and light meals are served, as well as coffee and cake. Excellent lunch choice.

  • A mixed crowd frequents this down-to-earth pub, a popular night-time destination for a beer. Bavarian-Italian food is served at reasonable prices, and there are a few patio tables in summer.

  • Italian coffee specialties on the Hofgarten: This is Munich’s oldest café, founded by Luigi Tambosi from Trento in Italy.

  • Historic 220-year-old coffee house in the Hofgarten, open morning to night. Take a seat at an antique table inside and be transported back to the 19th century. In summer, there are two patios, one on Odeonsplatz, the other beneath linden trees on the Hofgarten side. Live music is occasionally performed by music students.

  • With its bright orange 1960s decor, the Atomic has been a popular club for years. You’ll find a broad spectrum of live music here, from Brit pop, indie, and hip-hop, to rock and soul.

  • New Orleans-style bar and restaurant. Great ambience. Jazz brunch on Sundays.

  • Gays and lesbians hit the dance floor to the sounds of the 1970s and the pop charts in this super party venue. Transvestite shows at weekends.
