  • Munich’s central pedestrian zone stretches along Kaufingerstraße and Neuhauser Straße to Karlsplatz/Stachus. Here you will find all the major European chains and many department stores. Estimates show that Germany’s largest retail turnover per minute happens right here. Beyond Stachus, there are more stores in Sonnenstraße, Schützenstraße, and in the Elisenhof at the main railway station.

  • Imaginative gift articles made from paper. Roses are a favourite motif.

  • This shop catering to East Germany nostalgia (‘Ossi’ refers to the former GDR in local dialect) carries goods from the former country, including Spreewald pickles and Rotkäppchensekt (sparkling wine).

  • Jewellery as art – art as jewellery. This store sells perfect examples of goldsmithing and all manner of objets d’art . Creations range from earrings to wedding rings.

  • Perfect for rummaging and strolling are the giant flea market on the Theresienwiese in April and the largest open-air flea market in Bavaria, on the grounds of the Neue Messe (Alfons-GoppelStraße 3).
