Of the city he lived in for many years, 20th-century writer Thomas Mann said that “Munich glows”. And indeed, the sky is often a brilliant blue dotted with puffy white clouds in “Italy’s northernmost city”, where the relaxed, often Baroque lifestyle gives it a southern flair. Englischer Garten and the Isar meadows are right in the middle of the city; Starnberger See and the mountains are virtually on the doorstep. But Munich is also a city of art and culture with an abundance of historic buildings, museum treasures, and a lively cultural scene. Fine art, leisure, and la dolce vita make this a unique city.
For Munich on the Internet, visit www.muenchen.de With 1.3 million inhabitants, Munich is Germany’s third-largest city.-
take a trip 120 kilometers south east on the autobahn towards salzburg....turn off at freilassing and head onto laufen a/d salzach, cross the bridge into austria to oberndorf on the other side, where on christmas eve every year without fail you can experience a fantastic festival of carols...this is where in a tiny chapel "silent night, holy night" was composed....the atmosphere at the midnight mass will truly affect you forever.

Our stay is 5 nights at this lovely hotel at the foot of the mountains at the Southern tip of the Romantic Road. It serves as a base for marvelous sights-seeing. Beginning October 18, a featured special arrangement includes a room for 2 nights, with 2 candlelight dinners at the wonderful restaurant on the primises, tickets for the two castles (Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau), and a carriage ride to the castles. Further, they are quite ready to assure that on your visit you see all of the area sights. They are eager to direct you to Reutte, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Kloster Ettal, Wieskirche, Fuessen, promenade on Lake Hopfensee or rent a boat for a romantic evening, a Coupe Jacques at the nearby café. Another day might include Lake Plansee, through the Ammenwald and Andechs Monastery, Graswang Valley, Schloss Linderhof, Oberammergau. Then Steingaden, Buching, Lake Bannwaldsee, and the Alps always prominently in view. They will assist with more. But to top it all--breakfasts each morning with a view of Neuschwanstein.

This historic building is home to a clock known internationally for it's fantastic performance on the hour. I was last there for the celebration of the 850th anniversary of the founding of Munich, and would love to get to explore the surroundings in a normal setting and without quite that much crowds.

The POP-AS is one of the oldest gay pubs in Munich. Since 1979 drinks are served in the POP-AS.
The good soul is the landlord Carlos. Carlos is charming, entertaining and is a big talker. He is indescribable. You have to meet him.
In POP-AS you meet young and old to have a beer or two.
People are talking, laughting, discussing things and philosophing. You won't be alone for long at the POP-AS, only if you want to.
The POP-AS is also offering cultural events. Now and then e.g. song recitals, cabaret-events and christmas-parties take place.
What cannot be found in the POP-AS: darkroom, low standarts and a menu.
Just come in! You will like it.

Therme Erding is a giant waterpark facility located towards Munich Airport. One section of Therme Erding is a family swimming pool and waterslide complex. Another section is the Sauna Paradise, which contains a number of sauna and steam rooms. Whichever way you go, you are sure to enjoy yourself--between the exhilaration of the water rides, or the relaxation of the sauna spas.
