    Once frequented by renowned filmmaker Fassbinder and friends, this is a well-established gay pub with a hotel and bathhouse. Both Bavarian and international cuisine are on the menu. The bathhouse occupies four floors in the rear building, with steam bath, whirlpool, and roof garden.

    With its elegant ambience, witty decor, beautiful bar counter, and red club chairs, the Morizz is one of chicest meeting places – and not only for the gay community. The food (European cuisine and many Thai-inspired dishes) and drinks are excellent. Several times a week, a DJ gets the beat going; the house parties are extremely popular.

  • 3. Iwan

    Trendy destination with a bar and restaurant on two floors. The courtyard is packed in summer. You’ll enjoy the European-Asian cuisine, which is offered at a lower price during lunchtime. Iwan’s is known for excellent cocktails and friendly service. During the day, the crowd is mixed, but at night you’ll encounter the gay scene’s in-crowd. Whether you’re gay or not, you’ll feel comfortable and be entertained.

  • 4. Bau

    A haven for fans of jeans, leather, latex, and uniforms, this huge bar offers moderate prices. The two floors alternate between brightly lit and darker, more intimate areas. This is definitely a place for tough guys – and for those drawn to them.

  • 5. Rico

    A spin-off of the Seiten-sprung club (Holzstraße 29), which serves Asian-Mediterranean cuisine. At weekends, clients can treat themselves to a gourmet breakfast that is served well into the afternoon. In summer, there’s a beautiful courtyard oasis.

    Formerly a seedy corner pub, the Moro has reinvented itself as a trendy pub bar with a rustic interior. Attracting clientele from all walks of life, the menu ranges from Bavarian to Mediterranean to Asian cuisine.

  • 7. Kr@ftAkt

    Munich’s gay Internet café with a bar and outdoor patio located at the gateway to the gay district, Sendlinger Tor. Cocktails and small dishes are served to a mixed public in daytime, which gives way to a predominantly gay crowd at night.

  • 8. Inges Karotte

    This is the oldest lesbian hangout in the city. Gays and straight friends are equally welcome. Many regulars and Saturday night disco with a DJ.

  • 9. Soul City

    This is a hugely chic spot for gays, lesbians, and heterosexuals. Soul City’s DJs play everything from house to soul to easy listening music. This is a trend-setting club, frequented by a young, hip crowd. There are various shows and special events held in the club – check the daily papers for listings.

  • 10. Together

    Gays and lesbians hit the dance floor to the sounds of the 1970s and the pop charts in this super party venue. Transvestite shows at weekends.
