Archaeological Museum of Naples

  • Visitors can explore the rich archaeological past of Naples and the surrounding region, including the mythical city of Pompeii, at the National Museum of Archaeology. The museum, set up by royal decree in 1615 as the university of Naples, houses permanent collections of gems, sculptures, architecture and mosaics, mostly Graeco-Roman but also with sections on Egypt and special exhibits.
