New York

With its skyscrapers, great museums, and bright lights of Broadway, New York is a city of superlatives. There are countless sights that have to be seen, but a handful are truly definitive of the city. These highlights illustrate the very best.

  • Following a long-time tradition, 5th Avenue closes to traffic in Midtown, and New York families in their Sunday best stroll up the avenue, with ladies sporting amazing hats, both traditional and outrageous.

  • Step into the incense-scented interior, where offerings of fresh fruit are piled high, and more than 100 gold Buddhas gleam in the candlelight. The temple takes advantage of Chinatown’s tourist traffic by offering $1 fortunes for sale near the front.

  • Albee wrote The Zoo Story here. He first saw the words “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” written in soap on a saloon mirror nearby.

  • The founder of the Players Club is shown in his most famous role, about to give Hamlet’s soliloquy. The 1917 statue faces his former house.

  • Constant lines attest to the talents of Cecilia Tam, who sells the neighborhood’s best custard cakes at a little red street stand.

  • Eight is NEVER Enough Improv Comedy Show

Now in it's 7th season off-broadway, Eight is NEVER Enough is a high energy, fast paced, interactive improv and musical comedy show for ALL ages. This hilarious show has played over 2000 performances throughout NYC. Catch this show every weekend Fri-Mon at 8:30 for live performances at it's resident theatre located inside the Times Square Arts Center

  • Tapas , paella , sangria , and all the other Spanish favorites are on hand at this friendly restaurant.

  • Another Art Deco Roth design. Groucho Marx and Marilyn Monroe were once tenants.

  • A National Historic Landmark. This 1887 Moorish-style synagogue was the first house of worship built in the U.S. by Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, from where 80 percent of American Jews come. As many as 1,000 people attended services here at the turn of the century. As congregants left the neighborhood, attendance waned, and the temple closed in the 1950s. Restoration is now underway and the synagogue has become a vibrant cultural center.

  • Fantastic diner on Broadway. The staff are in 50's costumes and sing show songs in between serving delicious food. Definitely have the Oreo milkshake!
