  • This bar is a truly kitsch experience with cowboy wallpaper, deer heads on the wall and even a twinkling starry night sky.

  • One of the most amazing bars I've ever been to...Nothing special about decoration -- this is how a jazz bar should be, right? It was all about atmosphere and superior music...!!!

  • Bar/ restaurant with spooky gothic horror theme - the kids love it. Best bit is trying to find the loos with a concealed door! Fun place with friendly staff and not too busy in the afternoon

  • Jimmy's Corner Bar

A shrine to boxing: the walls are lined with fight posters, photos and other personal effects that owner and professional trainer Jimmy Glenn has pasted up over nearly thirty years (look for the shots of Jimmy with Ali). The house drink, Jimmy's Hurricane, is an blend of spiced rum, juices and amaretto. Visitors are Times Square regulars and few tourists. The beer is always cold and Jimmy himself is usually on hand - topping up the jukebox.

  • Marquee

This Meatpacking district late-night hot spot is a breeding ground for the rich and famous. If you make it through the velvet ropes, theres a good chance you'll brush shoulders with someone famous. Dress to impress-or you wont make it in the front door. Cover charge is $20 and the drinks are pricey.

  • The most collegiate experience in Manhattan. A watering hole for 20-somethings, this two-story West Village hot-spot is open 7 days a week til' 4 a.m. Perfect for cheap beer, 80's music and drinking games.

  • Absolutely superb bar! I went in when passing by and ended up staying there all night long and returning for another few nights out.

Very relaxed and friendly. The staff are a scream and the atmosphere is fantastic! I returned 6 months later and went into the bar again and the staff recognised me and another fantastic night was had. It feels like my local even though I live in Scotland!!! I absolutely recommend it!

  • Stone Rose Lounge

For the best views of Central Park, hit this upscale lounge located in the impressive Time Warner center. Drinks are over-priced, but the service is excellent and the views are nothing short of amazing. The lounge is busy everynight, so arrive early to get a table by the windows.

  • The Maritime Hotel

Perfect for a clear summer night, the patio at The Maratime Hotel is truly an oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Dine on rustic Italian in La Bottega or hit Matsuri, for some of the best Japanese in the city. Step outside onto the sprawling terrace filled with trendy New Yorkers and tourists alike. The drinks are pricey, but the atmostphere is worth it.

  • Located in the bottom of the W Union Square, this club hosts a beautiful crowd. Olives, the bar in the hotel lobby is located above, but closes early-so the crowd from Olives tends to make their way down to Underbar early. On weekend nights, Underbar tends to be quite exclusive, so dress appropriately and go early!
