  • A riverside boardwalk with fantastic views of the Manhattan skyline.

  • Adjacent to the New York Public Library, this park is a relief from the city. In the spring and summer there is an outdoor "reading room" on the north (42nd St.) side of the park- a few carts of books and reserved tables. Walking along the tree lined paths is a relief from the city at almost any time of year. Finally, it has free wireless- a rarity.

  • The masterwork of Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, Central Park, like a Coor and Crenshaw course, was simply built according to the land.

  • The briefcase of J. Seward Johnson, Jr.’s 1982 seated bronze figure contains a stapler, calculator, and an occasional sandwich provided by a passerby.

  • Designed and cast in 1883, a bronze Washington on a massive granite pedestal lifts his hand from the Bible after being sworn in.

  • The first European to sail into New York Harbor in 1524 was honored by fellow Italians with this 1909 statue by Ettore Ximenes.

  • Group of Four Trees

Jean Dubuffet’s 1972 mushroom-like sculptures hover over pedestrians nearby and bring a reason to smile in this busy area.

  • Isamu Noguchi’s 1967 red, 28-ft (9-m) high, metal cube balances on a corner defying gravity.

  • Louise Nevelson’s 1977 figures enliven the traffic island they inhabit. The largest is rooted to the ground, others are on stilts.

  • NEW YORK is fantastic,I've been many times but there aren't many things to do for free in NYC. I would like to recommend the Staten Island Ferry.Yes,it's free and offers fantastic views of the NYC Skyline. There is a ferry every half an hour and I think it runs 24 hours between Battery Park and Staten Island.
