Danny Meyer’s first restaurant has been one of New York’s most popular since 1985, loved for delicious fare served by friendly staff in comfortable surroundings. Chef Michael Romano’s new takes on American standards include the freshest ingredients from the neighboring Union Square Greenmarket.

An amazing wine list is the big draw, but the New American cuisine is also outstanding. Reserve ahead.

A funky Ukrainian diner serving borscht, blintzes, and pierogis for a pittance. Tables at the back are quieter.

A good wine list accompanies American dishes served in this airy room. The building is an 1898 Beaux Arts landmark.

No, there are no waffle houses in New York, Waffle House is way too cool for that...but if your on holiday there and feel like having the best breakfast in the world, take a little diversion from the big city and invade some southern states like a true yankee would! Waffle house is a fine southern-breakfeast-dining experience. With hundereds of locations in the south east and a few in the mid west, your bound to stumble upon one at some point in your travels.
The best part of the Waffle house is not the food, but the people who work there! You'll feel right at home as your waiter/waitress serves you a big hot bowl of grits, or some hash browns...scattered , smothered, covered, capped, topped...(don't know what that means?) Oh thats just a bit of elite Waffle House speak... YES, this place even has its own food speak. WOW.
Waffle Houses usually and most always have a SMOKING SECTION that is seperated from the non-smoking section by,well, air. So if you don't like smoke then I wouldnt recommend it to you. However Waffle Houses have superb ventalation systems, somewhere up there with Nasa and Mi5 , so the smoke might not be as much of a bother as you think!
At most Waffle Houses you can sit at the "bar" and watch your food get cooked! Which is cool if your not used to seeing the southern style open griddle cooking. You can smell the glory as your cheesy omlet bubbles away with your heaping serving of hash brows and side of grits (YOU MUST TRY GRITS!) What are grits? That i cannot tell you. They sort of resemble porridge, but well, more gritty. Make sure you ask them for cheese grits, they're better than regular.
Oh, did I mention the best part of the Waffle House??!! No you say?! the best part is that its CHEAP as chips! YES, you can eat like the prince of Prussia for a tener, smoke all the cigarettes you want, drink all the sweet tea you like (if you've never had it, well sweet tea is amazing, ask for it by name! AVOID it if you are a diabetic, it is something like 60 parts sugar, 30 parts water and 10 parts tea), and you can stay as long as you like! Waffle Houses are usually 24 hour diners! SWEEEET!
Does it get any better than this?? NO! this place is downright FAB Y'all! So forget about having breakfast at tiffanys, rent a car and make your way to where it's really at! EAT AT WAFFLE HOUSE. YOU WILL LOVE IT.
Oh yes, Most waffle houses take debit card I think, they all take cash of course. Your chip and pin card will NOT work unless it is a swipable card with a Visa or Mastercard logo....no solo/switch cards, also no meastro :-( sorry mates.
AND LASTLY-........YOU MUST TIP! service america lives on tips. TIP YOUR WAITER/WAITRESS if you ever plan on coming back...You will be rewarded the next time you come by better service and more food for your money (and better too!)...

Great Brazilian restaurant with feijoda -- the Brazilian national dish! Other dishes are available as well. Food is excellent with pleasant service. It is fairly small, so reservations may be needed. The prices are economical for New York.
