New York

With its skyscrapers, great museums, and bright lights of Broadway, New York is a city of superlatives. There are countless sights that have to be seen, but a handful are truly definitive of the city. These highlights illustrate the very best.

  • A Salt and Battery

British Fish and Chips in the Heart of Greenwich Village. Winner of Bobby Flay's Throwdown! The key element to a proper British chip is fat, and the flabby, pale yellow specimens here come close to the ideal. If you really love them, try the chip buttie (a chip sandwich, essentially). Either way, salt and vinegar are essential. Don't be afraid of the deep-fried Mars Bar for dessert: it's delicious.

  • American Museum Of Natural History

Natural history studyes about our nature, ancient people's lifes.

My wish is to have a trip in one of the most beautiful museums in the world

  • Superb seafood, and in particular famous for having over twenty different kinds of Oysters from both the Atlantic and Pacific coastal waters of North America. A lively atmosphere, but attentive and prompt service ensures you never feel ignored. Highly recommended.

  • The best slices in Manhattan, served up in a quirky standing room only pizzeria!! Brave the lines for the signature artichoke and spinach slice - a heavy cream/butter/wine sauce on a thick crust slice - Fabulous! Or opt for the best round neopolitan and sicilian slices in Manhattan - four types of cheeses, fabulous sauce on a great crust, with fresh basil leaves cut straight on top! Everything served piping hot straight from the oven to you! It's worth the wait!

Eat the pizza the city has gone nuts over....

  • Dept. Store

  • Barney Greengrass

Apparently THE place to get the biggest sandwich you will ever find in your life. One particular infamous sandwich has every food type (meat, fish, vegetable...) known to exist. Men only need apply.

  • Really great place to shop til you drop. Real must see.

  • One of my favorite nice day activities in NY is a walk across the historic Brooklyn bridge to the tiny neighbourhood under the bridge. From City Hall in lower Manhattan you can stroll, skate or bike across the wood-planked pedestrian walkway in the middle of the bridge. It's longer and steeper than it looks, but the beautiful views of the East river and NY Harbor are worth it. At the end, reward yourself with Grimaldi's pizza (NY's best) and a creamy Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory cone on the pier. Take the cute water taxi back if you are too full to walk!

  • A riverside boardwalk with fantastic views of the Manhattan skyline.

  • Adjacent to the New York Public Library, this park is a relief from the city. In the spring and summer there is an outdoor "reading room" on the north (42nd St.) side of the park- a few carts of books and reserved tables. Walking along the tree lined paths is a relief from the city at almost any time of year. Finally, it has free wireless- a rarity.
