New York

With its skyscrapers, great museums, and bright lights of Broadway, New York is a city of superlatives. There are countless sights that have to be seen, but a handful are truly definitive of the city. These highlights illustrate the very best.

  • Mister Softee!

This soft-serve ice-cream is the most delicious ice cream in the world.

  • A French restaurant found on Top Table (online) Excellent steak and chips to die for. Never tasted anything since to rival it.

  • Great Hotel, well placed for all the attractions, yet just away from the busiest areas.

  • New York City Explorer Pass

Amazing deals on top attractions! real money saver!

  • A must for lovers of urban transport everywhere, this museum is housed in what used to be Court Street subway station in Brooklyn, which is still connected to the network and theoretically a working station. http://www.mta.info/mta/museum/

  • NY's Fashion Institute of Technology

Free museum of designs, clothing, etc.

  • NYC's Official Visitor Info. Centre

Free & low-cost concerts, plays, museums, tv show tappings, etc.

  • The most collegiate experience in Manhattan. A watering hole for 20-somethings, this two-story West Village hot-spot is open 7 days a week til' 4 a.m. Perfect for cheap beer, 80's music and drinking games.

  • Opening Ceremony

Vast array of designers, semi-annual sale, different country's fashion featured every year, & downstairs = sale area!

(Store Whitney shops at in 'The City')

  • Absolutely superb bar! I went in when passing by and ended up staying there all night long and returning for another few nights out.

Very relaxed and friendly. The staff are a scream and the atmosphere is fantastic! I returned 6 months later and went into the bar again and the staff recognised me and another fantastic night was had. It feels like my local even though I live in Scotland!!! I absolutely recommend it!
