One word describes Orlando’s transformation in the last three decades: stunning. The city and its suburbs have gone through a Cinderella-like metamorphosis, where plain Jane has become a worldly beauty. Millions of tourists are seduced every year by sophisticated resorts, a wide range of theme parks, must-see attractions, happening nightclubs, and winning restaurants. Here are Orlando’s best of the best.

A veritable honeypot of merchandise: you’ll find watches, jewelry, dolls, and lots more related to Pooh and his crew.
-
This classy eatery is sure to please with thin crust pizzas, pastas, and Italian food such as slow-roasted pork loin.
-
This Universal resort is a replica of Italy’s Portofino village, right down to the boats and “fishermen” in the harbor. The rooms are spacious and feature luxe bed linen. The gelati (ice cream) machines by the pool are another nice touch. Guests get to skip the line for rides and shows at Universal’s parks.
-
A neat aerial adventure, but it can make some riders queasy.
-
It’s a bit of a dive, but don’t let that put you off trying the delicious mojo -enhanced steaks and seafood.
-
This is an Orlando hot spot for gays, with DJs spinning music from the 1970s and 80s. Tuesday night is Karaoke Night, while Wednesday is College Night. Hip-hop music is featured on Thursday nights, but whatever type of music you enjoy, you will find it here. This welcoming establishment is a firm favorite for the Orlando gay crowd.
-
This is a good-value place given its location on I-Drive, just opposite Pointe Orlando. The standard rooms are really quite small, so if space is an issue, opt for a semi-suite. Three pools, two games rooms, and a 24-hour deli are among the on-site amenities.
-
This upscale restaurant also has a bar that is always packed with patrons. There’s live music on Friday nights, too.
-
Don’t expect the normal Renaissance high standard, since the 577 rooms at this hotel are more motel-like. Still, price, location, and service make it attractive.
-
This jungle-themed restaurant provides noisy fun and a California-style menu. The mixed grill includes barbecued ribs, soy-ginger steak skewers, chicken breast, and peppered shrimp. Kids get their own special menu, the cartoon-like decor is good fun, and a “volcano” erupts every now and then.
