A long-established favourite, with its bar, live music at weekends, expensive cocktails and all done out in Chinese decor.
2. Le Balajo

Balajo has been going since 1936, serving up different styles of dancing on different days. They range from Saturday night disco to Sunday afternoon tea dances.
3. Barrio Latino

Vast club on three floors with a generally louche Latin atmosphere.
4. Bataclan

The concert hall attracts international artists as well as household French names, while the adjoining bar provides beer and meals.
5. Pop In

A shabby-chic bar cum nightclub with cheap drinks, friendly staff, a cool crowd and funky DJs.
6. Café de l’Industrie

This fashionable and sizeable café has three rooms where the walls are lined with paintings and old-fashioned artifacts. The food is cheap but pretty good, and the later it gets the better the buzz.
7. Le Clown Bar

As its name suggests, clown-related clutter fills this fashionable, arty hangout. The wine list is excellent and the staff knowledgeable.
8. Le Fanfaron

This is a must for lovers of rare film music, the Rolling Stones and Iggy Pop, with hip tunes and the cheapest beer in Bastille.
9. Le Square Trousseau

This bistro was one of the first media watering holes when the Bastille became chic a few years ago.
