Paris

From Notre-Dame to the Eiffel Tower, Paris holds some of the world's most famous sights and these highlights should be top of the list for any first-time visitor. With the exception of the overtly modern Pompidou Centre, they have been landmarks of this elegant and romantic capital for centuries and remain awe-inspiring sights, no matter how often you visit the city.

  • Funky, English-speaking cafe/bar in the Marais area.

  • The Newport Bay at Disneyland

A wonderfully nautical hotel complete with a beautiful giant, wooden globe and port holes!

  • Toraya

Tradditional Japanese sweet Shop and Tea Room near Place de la Concorde.

Traditional Japanese Lunch time menu available. Address: 10, Rue St-Florentin, 75001 Paris

  • Tour Montparnasse

Take Europe's fastest lift up to the 56th floor for a panoramic view of the whole of Paris

  • This skyscraper, the only one in Paris, is no beauty or attraction in itself (both inside and out), yet it still has something to offer. If you want a great view, but are put off by the price and queues for the Eiffel Tower, then the top of this building is the place to go. It's very cheap and you have the choice of admiring the view behind the safety of windows or braving the outdoor viewing deck! I got some good photos of the Eiffel Tower all lit up.

  • Trois Poussins Hotel

What every Parisien hotel should be, but isn't. Quiet, clean, friendly and reasonably priced! This place is great for families and ideal if you're coming in to Gare du Nord.

  • There is no better way to see Paris then to simply explore all the area of the city, whether it be by foot, bike or bus. Start early in the morning and follow your instincts around the streets, stopping at places of interest. Who know what you will find when you let go of your plans and simply see what Paris has to offer.

  • An exquisite little chateau in France - not too big but like a tiny ornate jewel box. The crowds all swarm to Versailles allowing you to wander around in relative peace and quiet. It also had an interesting and tragic history as the home of Fouquet, a friend to artists and faithful minister to Louis XIV. His wealth and popularity led to his imprisonment and death at the hands of the suspicious king.

  • Villa Panthéon

A boutique hotel on the left bank.
