Top 10 Children’s Attractions
-
1. Disneyland Resort Paris
Formerly known as EuroDisneyland, the French offspring of America’s favourite theme park is a clone of its parent, and has now been joined by the Walt Disney Studios complex. Both have big queues, so arrive early. There are rides for children of all ages and most adults are equally enchanted.
-
2. Parc de la Villette
One of the city’s top children’s attractions, with activities for all ages. The Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, a high-tech hands-on science museum, gets star billing, while the Cité des Enfants is a science and nature museum for younger children. Kids also love the Argonaute, a naval museum with a real submarine, the Géode with its IMAX screen and the Cité de la Musique, with musical activities for young people.
-
3. Eiffel Tower
A trip to the top is one of the most memorable activities for children in Paris.
-
4. Grande Galerie de l’volution
The most exciting and imaginatively designed display in the Natural History Museum is the Great Gallery of Evolution. Elephants, giraffes and other stuffed animals rise out of a re-created savannah, a huge whale skeleton hangs from the ceiling, while lighting, sound effects and interactive displays help tell the story of the development of life on earth. Nature workshops are held for children under 12 years old (see Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle).
-
5. Musée de la Curiosité et de la Magie
Kids are enchanted by this museum of magic, located in the atmospheric cellars of the former home of the Marquis de Sade. Magicians conjure up hourly shows involving optical illusions, card tricks and lots of audience participation. The exhibits include fun-house mirrors and memorabilia from master magicians such as escape artist Houdini (1874–1926).
-

A popular day out, with dozens of attractions including Europe’s longest rollercoaster, an adventure playground and an exact replica of Albert Uderzo’s original comic book village.
-
7. Jardin d’limatation
An amusement park tucked away at the north end of the Bois de Boulogne, with roller coasters, pony rides, puppet shows and two children’s museums. On Wednesday and weekend afternoons, journey here on “le Petit Train”, a steam train from Porte Maillot.
-
8. Grévin
This waxworks museum was founded in 1882 and retains an old-fashioned charm. Kids will get most enjoyment from seeing celebrities from the world of pop music and film, although there are wonderful tableaux from French history.
-

A day out at the circus. In the morning kids can put on clown make-up, see the animals or try tightrope walking. After lunch with the performers, they watch the show.
