  • This lovely guesthouse is nearly inside the Vyšehrad walls. Stroll through the park each evening at sunset or sit in the pension’s stunning garden. The four rooms are simply and comfortably furnished. Good access to public transport. Pets stay free.

  • Bright and welcoming, with pleasant touches such as complimentary newspapers, signs in braille and rooms with lofts (great for families). All rooms have internet access and 24-hour room service.

  • Between Masarykovo nádraží and the Old Town, the Renaissance offers a fitness centre with pool, three restaurants, 314 rooms and 12 suites; all rooms have satellite TV and voice mail.

  • This large third-floor flat comprises two bedrooms, bath, kitchen, TV and stereo. Stay more than 7 nights and your transport to and from the airport is free.

  • In the 1930s, the Alcron was Prague’s answer to New York’s Ritz. The Radisson hotel group has carefully revived the hotel’s Art Nouveau dandiness, besmirched by 40 years of secret police surveillance. There are two excellent restaurants on site.

  • Tucked into a hidden corner of Malá Strana, the Nosticova is popular with film stars and other VIPs. The apartments are decked out with such fine touches as antique clocks and crystal chandeliers. All this, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk from Charles Bridge.

  • Residence Řetěžová

A palace historically known as the House at the Three Golden Chains has been converted into nine spacious apartments. Each has vaulted ceilings, wooden floors and Italian baths. The Old Town location can’t be beat.

  • In case the Charles Bridge view isn’t enough, each of the 13 suites is equipped with a computer. The attic apartment features a fireplace and Jacuzzi. In the cellar, you’ll find the Judith Bridge’s foundations.

  • The staff here go to great lengths to be hospitable, throwing the occasional barbecue and helping travellers find other accommodation when the hostel is full. The bedrooms, baths and kitchen are immaculate.

  • This studio flat has a double bed, a small kitchen and a bathroom with shower. The windows face the court- yard, so it is pretty quiet. Located three tram stops from Wenceslas Square.
