  • Are these details incorrect?
  • 1. Casino Ruhl

The original Neo-Classical Ruhl building has sadly gone, to be replaced with a more Las Vegas-style set-up. It offers gaming tables, cabaret, a disco on Friday and Saturday nights and slot machines until dawn.

  • 2. La Civette du Cours

“Bar sympa” , they say in French, which means friendly and appealing – especially for the young, artistic and mildly eccentric.

  • 3. Le Before

This trendy and smoothly ambient lounge bar is the perfect place to relax and meet friends before hitting the town for a big night out.

  • 4. Wayne’s

Home-from-home for English people in this pub in Vieux Nice. Good beer, pub food, live music, table dancing and a terrace.

  • 5. Le Klub

Immensely popular club, especially, but not exclusively, for gays.

  • 6. L’Escalier

The first room is music, either live DJ, rock and jazz, the second is billiards, beer and big screen TV. The whole is convivial.

  • 7. Negresco Piano Bar

No techno here in the bar of the city’s palatial hotel (see Le Negresco, Nice). Just the tinkling of ivories amid wood panelling and deep armchairs, which give the place the pleasingly languorous air of a gentleman’s club.

  • 8. Blue Boy Enterprise

The two bars on two floors provide a stylish, fashionable gathering place for the trendier elements of the gay community.

  • 9. L’f

Pronounced “Lef”, this is one of the friendliest places for a drink and a bite to eat on the Vieux Nice nighttime circuit. A year-round venue – the terrace is heated in winter.

  • 10. Scarlett O’Hara’s

Irish bars are terribly fashionable with the French – and this one is no exception. Live Irish music and a lively atmosphere add to the attraction.
