  • B&B Inn La Jolla

This delightful home with its individually decorated rooms was designed in 1913 by renowned architect Irving Gill, and Kate Sessions (see The Mother of Balboa Park) planted its original gardens.

  • This venerable Mission Bay Hotel is right next to the bay and Mission Beach. At night, you can enjoy live music on the Bahia Belle, a stern-wheeler that floats on the bay every evening.

  • This B&B is housed in Spanish-Colonial style buildings constructed in 1915. The Orient Express room features a Chinese rosewood bed, and the Tara Suite pays tribute to Gone With the Wind .

  • Rattan furniture and tropical fabrics give a Polynesian cast to this hotel. The best rooms are at the back, and have views of the marina and Point Loma. Breakfast is included.

  • Head to the pool or the Pacific Ocean for a morning swim and then down the boardwalk for breakfast. New rooms and suites have brightened this lodge, but the older rooms have the beach view.

  • Best Western Hacienda Suites

On a hillside overlooking Old Town, the rooms at this charming hacienda-style hotel have private balconies or look onto a courtyard. There is complimentary airport transportation.

  • Exhilarating programs focus on fitness, nutrition, and personal care. The Mediterranean-style villas provide the most luxurious accommodation.

  • Rooms at this romantic seaside hideaway can be either contemporary in design or borderline Victorian. In the Sweetheart Room, find a heart-shaped tub and a etched-glass window with a sweeping ocean view. Many rooms feature four poster beds, ocean views, and fireplaces.

  • Families love this sprawling resort. Rooms and time-share condominiums are available nightly or weekly. Several activities and classes are held daily, and there’s a good Mexican restaurant.

  • This Polynesian-themed hotel offers a long list of water activities. Within walking distance to many restaurants, Tiki torches light your way through lushly landscaped grounds. The upper floors of the towers have great views.
