  • 1. Shops at the Hotel del Coronado

    You’ll find some of the best shopping in Coronado among these extensive shops in the hotel, including women’s upscale casual wear, sunglasses, toys, Jessop’s jewelers, and the books of L. Frank Baum (see Meade House).

  • 2. Bay Books

    This independent bookstore has helpful staff, an ample selection of books of local interest and international papers and magazines.

  • 3. In Good Taste

    A store that also operates a catering business, features select gourmet and entertainment items, as well as yummy chocolates.

  • 4. La Provençale

    Fabrics, tablecloths, pillows, purses, and a charming collection of hand-painted eggcups are imported from the South of France.

  • 5. Kippys

    Specializing in “things that glitter,” you’ll find clothes with lots of sparkles for the rodeo, salsa dancing, or that upcoming pageant. For everyday wear, go for the embellished denim and leather.

  • 6. Ferry Landing Market Place

    At the foot of the Coronado Ferry (see Meade House), find an eclectic selection of souvenirs, clothing, and galleries. A great farmers’ market sets up on Tuesday afternoons.

  • 7. Newport Avenue

    The main drag through Ocean Beach is chock full of antique shops. Some doorways front malls with dozens of shops inside. Finds range from 1950s retro to Victorian and Asian antiques.

  • 8. Ocean Beach People’s Organic Food Market

    This co-op market has sold organic, minimally processed natural foods for over 30 years. For food to go, try the upstairs vegan deli. Non-members are welcome but will be charged a small percentage more.

  • 9. The Map Centre

    Maps of every sort – street maps, topographical, and nautical charts – will help you find your way.

  • 10. The Shops at Las Americas

    Within walking distance of the border with Mexico, you can stop by this immense outlet center before or after a trip to Tijuana.
