  • Art gallery by day and rave scene by night. Devotees call this the coolest place in town, with top DJs who mix everything from garage to world beat.

  • Patrons plug into clear plastic tubes, and then breathe oxygen in through the nose and out through the mouth, available in six refreshing aromatherapy flavors. Also featured are six herb and juice cocktails served over ice. You feel great and look even better.

  • Located off Townsend in this thriving SoMa area, 330 Ritch Street has been hosting events, receptions and club nights for over a decade. Known for its underground appeal, people flock to this venue for its various musical genres.

  • A place to mellow out on astrological cocktails, one specially concocted for each sign. It’s the Age of Aquarius here, with the midnight blue and purple velvet decor, complete with starry galaxies.

  • Brazen Asian drag queens are your waitresses, who also perform bar-top numbers. The tropical cocktails glow in the dark. DJ disco-dancing downstairs.

  • East meets West here, as the feng shui interior (tilted mirrors over the bar for watching your back), sake martinis, and “nine bites” nibbles would confirm.

  • Its old, dingy interior used to live up to its menacing name, but no more since it has gone all slick and shiny. Still, it’s a big draw for the under-40 set. The Sunday afternoon beer bust (4–9pm) is, for many, the most happening event of the week.

  • The sumptuous restaurant in this ultra-hip nightclub serves Southeast Asian cuisine and all the dishes are priced under $15. The interior is an eclectic mix of modern slate fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling waterfalls, with a retro cocktail lounge and Asian artifacts. Bambuddha boasts a poolside dining area, and couples will enjoy the intimate corners and low tables for private conversations.

  • This popular and trendy restaurant and nightclub is the place to visit for fabulous cocktails and hip beats. There is a heated patio.

  • Part of a chain, this San Francisco bar opened in 1998. The interior is decorated to Bubble Lounge resemble a vintage hair salon complete with hairdryers. Look out for the “manicure and martini” happy hour. The music is eclectic, and is mixed by local and nationally known DJs.
