  • If you are visiting St Andrews take the time out to have afternoon tea at the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa. Served in the 17th Road Hole Bar which is located on the top floor of the hotel with spectacular views over the Old Course and St Andrew's coastline.

The afternoon tea is fab and with a varied selsction of sandwiches, scones, cakes and pancakes. Well worth the trip.

  • Right on Buchanan Street, Glasgow's main shopping area this is a great pitstop. An Italian with a great selection of pizzas and pasta, many with a twist, as well as an impressive range of meat and seafood dishes - there is something for everyone.

  • This is an award winning and well known fish & chips bar located in a small fishing village on the east coast of scotland on the harbour front.

A wide variety of fish is on offer and is all fresh and locally caught, definitely worth queuing for.

Highly recommended for a fab meal and great views of this pretty village.

  • Simply the best vegetarian food in the city. This is no hippy hangout, it's modern, stylish and has a great wine list. I've taken meat eaters there too, and never had any complaints - what more can I say?

  • Chinese & Asian fusion cooking, a great blend of East and West. Good menu choices and quirky cocktails. Positioned across from the Theatre Royal a fab pre or post theatre pitstop.

  • Looks like a cafe from the outside. The menu is small but the quality of the food will make you go back again and again till you have sampled everything on it...then you go back again because it is so good it would be criminal not to.

  • Scottish Modern cooking at a reasonable price. There is a chain of these around Scotland http://www.howies.uk.com/

Unpretentious wholesome food. Do try the steak if they are on - one of the best I have had in a while!

  • This informal Japanese restaurant is in the heart of glasgow. Long tables and a no booking policy are part of what makes the relaxed atmosphere as well as great service and quality food.

A varied menu includes everything from sushi to tempura, curries and the speciality noodle dishes. Reasonably priced you must also try the plum wine or japanese beers on offer.

Ichiban also has another restaurant in the West End of Glasgow.

  • The best juice and smoothie place in glasgow. fresh fruit and low fat options makes it a healthy alternative with some fab drinks on offer.

  • Not many tourists get to Dumfries & Galloway in the far south west of Scotland but it's a delightful corner and the Linen Room makes it all the more worth going out of your way for. It's bang up-to-date with very tasteful, monchromatic decor to greet you. The food is very definitely Scottish but none the worse for that! Local ingredients are exploited to the full, on a menu that's varied and offers the unexpected. The wine list is comprehensive, prices of the middle order. Overall - a treat, highly recommended.
