Where better to spend a fantastic White Christmas than in Aviemore? Skiing, beautiful scenery, whisky - and the locals are friendly too!
-
The lodges are designed to offer luxury holiday. They sleep from 1 to 6 people and are set in a little clearing in a forest, you get access to leisure facilities at a nearby leisure club and you also get access to fort william golf club. With being set in a forest there is lots of wildlife to see but you also have a verandah to sit out on it is fantastic.

Castle Lachlan is a family Scottish baronial house set in an estate of 1500 acres situated on the shores of Loch Fyne. The castle dates from the 18th century and is the clan seat of the MacLachlans one of the oldest highland clans.

Beautiful, old castle. Decor is classic. Castle is rumoured to be haunted & has a unique mysterious feel about it. Try the Library bar for a dated but distibguished night cap. The food was excellent & spa & luxury / health facilities were even more special in that setting. About 10 - 15 drive from central Edinburgh.

Right slap bang in the middle of Perthshire is the tiny historic village of Kenmore, situated at the eastern end of Loch Tay where the River Tay starts it's journey to the sea. The Hotel is one of the oldest in Scotland, picturesqueto say the least. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, the food in the hotel restaurant is of the highest standard, and during the summer months there is usually some form of entertainment on offer, from dinner and music to impromptu singalongs in the bar. I can't praise the place highly enough. Bonuses - the scenery is stunning, only a few miles from the near 4000ft Ben Lawers, plus superb golf nearby and of course fishing on the river and loch. If you want something more energetic there are miles and miles of hiking trails, plus the watersports centre on the loch. And if you need to shop, you're only an hour from Perth! It's a superb base for touring the central highlands, and to me is Perthshire's best kept secret.

Seriously sumptuous stuff here! For anyone that's looking for a genuinely Scottish sleeping experience with a touch of luxury, this is the way to go. It is 10 minutes by car from the city centre and overlooked by the famous volcanic hill 'Arthur's Seat'. Prestonfield is a gorgeous 19th century mansion set in 13 acres of gardens with an adjoining golf course and the award winning restaurant 'Rhubarb' within.
It is frequented by celebrities and romantic weekenders, all of whom are treated the same by the friendly, well-informed and discreet staff at all times. Within it's old walls are well renovated luxury rooms decorated in velvet, tassels and gold leaf, well balanced out by crisp linen, simple antiques and mirrors.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the fabulous 'Rhubarb' - a great combination of traditional and international with a modern twist. For a very special treat opt for afternoon tea (with champagne perhaps) served at your choice of location throughout the house and garden. You can even sit in the outdoor conservatory by the lawn and watch the peacocks strut. Our naughty barman stole us some peanuts to feed them!
Late checkout is available, as is some amazing room service food and brilliant classic movies to watch on your own mega-screen.
Whether you're in Edinburgh for a culture weekend with a great base for your evenings or just want to hide and snuggle this is the place to stay. Recommended by Christina Aguilera....and me!

One of the most stunning places I have ever stayed at, the Witchery by the Castle exceeded my expectations in every way. The rooms are filled with antiques, lined with tartan and supplied daily with champagne. Breakfast is a stately affair, brought to the room by Roxy, our assigned concierge and served at a table looking high over the Royal Mile. The bathroom came equipped with a bath deep and large enough to accomodate a large tug, and the Victorian equivalent of a whole body shower. A large bust of Queen Victoria dominated the bedroom area and frowned disdainfully at the remote control gas fire, superb stereo system and television. Browsing through the visitors book, you can add your name to those of celebrities of TV, Music and Theatre from all over the world. In short this is a place for romance, decadence and sheer indulgence. I could not recommend the hotel, its staff or the location highly enough.
