With over 50 golf courses, 100 parks , sufficient Neo-Classical architecture to dub it “the Athens of the North” and the crowning splendour of its castle, Edinburgh ranks as one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Its centre is divided into two: the historic old town, with its cobblestones and narrow wynds (alleys); and the striking Georgian architecture of the New Town. Between them lies Princes Street Gardens, a bowl of greenery in the heart of the bustle. No other city crams in as many festivals during the year as Edinburgh, and in August it becomes the greatest showcase on earth for music, drama, dance and every other conceivable form of artistic culture.

Situated within Holyrood Park Arthur's Seat is an extinct volcano and one of the seven hills of Edinburgh. Although only 250m (823 feet) is a notable landmark, dominating the city which offer without question the best views of the city overlooking to the west the impressive Edinburgh Castle. It provides for the outdoor enthusiast a great green space in the heart of the city with many different walks for everyone.

Beautiful, old castle. Decor is classic. Castle is rumoured to be haunted & has a unique mysterious feel about it. Try the Library bar for a dated but distibguished night cap. The food was excellent & spa & luxury / health facilities were even more special in that setting. About 10 - 15 drive from central Edinburgh.

Simply the best vegetarian food in the city. This is no hippy hangout, it's modern, stylish and has a great wine list. I've taken meat eaters there too, and never had any complaints - what more can I say?
-
the place is great to show tourists a bit of scottish culture
-
Excellent attraction - well worth a visit as long as you dont get scared easily or mind participating in the various exhibits - I got picked to perform an autopsy and take part in a witches trial - all good fun.

Looks like a cafe from the outside. The menu is small but the quality of the food will make you go back again and again till you have sampled everything on it...then you go back again because it is so good it would be criminal not to.

The countryside in the city! A beautiful local nature reserve between Morningside and Liberton. There are many varied habitats - mixed woodlands, a stream, a duckpond, steep rocky slopes, wild flower meadows. Climb up to the grassy summit of the hill for an unbeatable view of the city. There are walks to suit all levels of fitness - there's even a carpark next to the observatory at the top of the hill if you want to see the view without the climb! A visitor centre in the middle of the Hermitage provides information on the wealth of wildlife in the reserve. The reserve is easy to get to by local buses.
