A compact guide detailing my personal highlights from a trip in summer 2007. We stayed in the small town of Competa, in the mountains above Malaga, spending most days exploring the neighbouring pueblos blancos and sampling the local food and wine. Tapas bars are a regional institution, though with a definate emphasis on traditional meat dishes, vegetarians may find the food slightly limiting. A tip for discovering authentic flamenco is to steer clear of the tourist performances and try bars that are off the beaten track - and preferably full of locals!

Essential Venice.

Staying in Venice is expensive, so on a short trip it's important to see the key sights first. Just walking through the network of alleyways you will happen upon beautiful architecture and breathtaking piazzas. You will always come back knowing that there were other parts and sights you could have gone to see, and therefore that you will be back!
