  • Al Pesador

As seen on Three Sheets: Owner's name is Nicola. Great little bar located near the Rialto Bridge

  • An enthusiastic multilingual welcome is extended to all visitors in this lively wine bar that never seems to close. It boasts almost non-stop service, an extended “happy hour” from 4–7pm and a delicious assortment of Spanish-style tapas snack meals to accompany the wine.

  • Cantina do Mori

As seen on Three Sheets: Great wine bar with traditional tapas

  • Ancient bacaro [ opened in 1462 ] close to the Rialto bridge . Dark little bar , atmospheric with it's wooden beams and copper pots hanging from them . Serves an amazing assortment of mouthwatering cichetti . One Euro per nibble !....washed down with a similarly impressive assortment of wines . Very popular both with locals , workers from the market and tourists , this bar and " Al Timon " in Cannaregio are , for me , the top two bars in Venice . Highly recommended for it' s wine , cichetti and friendly staff . Attempts to speak Italian , as elsewhere in Venice , are appreciated , and , I have found , tend to ensure a better and friendlier service .

  • However late in the evening, you can turn up here and count on live music, a good glass of wine and a crusty crostino topped with anchovies or cheese. On summer evenings locals row up to the waterside entrance.

  • Casinò Municipale, Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi

A magnificent start to an exciting evening – a special ACTV launch from Piazzale Roma transports hopeful clients down the Grand Canal to the landing stage of the beautiful Renaissance palace, alias City Casino, for a glittering night at the tables or the slot machines. It is also a short walk from the San Marcuola ferry stop.

  • Centrale

A thoughtful use of candles and soft music helps to create a pleasant and welcoming ambience to this lounge bar and restaurant. They serve imaginative and sometimes somewhat innovative Mediterranean cuisine each evening until 2am.

  • One of the many lively music bars that can be found in Campo S Margherita. Chet Bar is a popular joint and is, as the name clearly indicates, dedicated to that great trumpet player Chet Baker.

  • Tiny little wine bar on the Fondamenta dei Ormesini near to the Ghetto . Serves a good selection of wines , by the glass or bottle , as well as a good selection of tasty cichetti . Is a bit off the beaten track and so there are very few tourists present , mainly local venetians . The service is friendly - all the more so if you try and speak a little Italian . The name "Timon " means rudder , and there is one hanging on the wall . I really enjoyed spending time at Al Timon and will definitely return on my next visit . Well worth seeking it out . It is also very close to the Ristorante Anice Stellato , just over the bridge on Fondamenta della Sensa , another venetian delight , again not much visited by tourists .

  • Fiddler’s Elbow Irish Pub

Marvellous, lively atmosphere and great Guinness, naturally. You can always count on action here – a concert of Irish music in the cosy square, a maxi screen for football games, while at Carnival and, of course, St Patrick’s Day, this is the place to be.
