1. Maestro

A great place for a luxury dinner in the magnificent Konzerthaus. Sophisticated Viennese cuisine.
2. Restaurant Hotel Artis

Both Austrian and international dishes served in the hotel’s greenhouse.
3. Terrassenrestaurant Palais Schwarzenberg

A meal here is a grand experience in the Baroque setting of a 400-year-old palace. Live piano music from 7pm onwards.
4. Fasanlwirt

Traditional Viennese dishes including Gulasch and Schweinsbraten (see pp70–71).
5. Bierreither

This restaurant specializes in spare ribs which are prepared in no less than eight different ways.
6. Naschmarkt

A large salad and vegetable buffet is offered at this self-service restaurant.
7. Gasthaus Ubl

Probably Vienna’s last simply styled gasthaus. Large portions of classic Viennese food served in beautiful oak-panelled surroundings. Very popular with the locals.
8. Zur Steirischen Botschaft

Dedicated to dishes from Austria’s southern province of Styria. A garden with walnut trees is pleasant in summer.
9. Wieden Bräu

A restaurant serving Viennese food such as Schnitzel in beer dough and a brewery that produces its own beer on the premises.
10. Belvedere

Some 30 to 40 traditional Viennese dishes.
