  • Placing glorious beaches right at your doorstep, the resorts strung out along the islands’ shorelines run the gamut from exclusive luxury hotels to campgrounds where you can rough it out. Package deals abound in these places, many of which are family-oriented. Most have so many amenities that you need not leave the resort at all. Spend lazy hours sunning on soft white sands or enjoy the range of watersport activities as well as the fine or casual dining your hotel offers.

  • 1. The Buccaneer Hotel, St. Croix

Located on St. Croix’s north shore, this hotel has it all – fine beaches, plentiful watersports, golf, tennis, as well as excellent dining. Rooms at this appealing resort range from motel-style to condominiums (seeBolongo Bay Beach Club, St. Thomas).

  • 7. Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda

With five beaches on its own island, this resort attracts guests who like privacy. Enjoy watersports or a massage during the day and fine dining every night in its sophisticated tropical ambience (seePeter Island Resort & Yacht Club).

Practical Information
Beach resorts run from posh to casual, so pack accordingly. Some require a jacket for men after 6pm; at others you can get by with shorts and t-shirts no matter what the time of day. When picking a resort, it really pays to do your homework. If you want lots of activities included in your room rate, look for that specific information. Most resorts include things such as snorkel gear, sailboat, and kayak use, but some charge a small fee.
