  • 1. Caneel Hill Trail

    This 2-mile (3-km) trail leaves from near Mongoose Junction Shopping Center (seeShopping) in Cruz Bay, goes past a scenic overlook, and connects with the North Shore Road near Caneel Bay Resort (seeCaneel Bay Resort, St. John).

  • 2. Peace Hill

    An enchanting spot with fine views in three directions reached by a short walk uphill, this is just right for a picnic.

  • 3. Cinnamon Bay Long Trail

    Running downhill from Centerline Road to North Shore Road near Cinnamon Bay Campground (seeCinnamon Bay Campground, St. John), this 1.1-mile (1.7-km) trail offers superb views.

  • 4. Cinnamon Bay Ruins Trail

    Signs describing the flora, fauna, and historical features mark this half-mile (1-km) loop trail. It starts and ends at the sugar factory ruins near Cinnamon Bay Campground.

  • 5. Francis Bay Trail

    With mangroves and salt ponds along the way, the half-mile (1-km) long Francis Bay Trail is a bird-watcher’s favorite.

  • 6. Brown Bay Trail

    Hike about a mile (1.6 km) from Waterlemon Bay along the Johnny Horn Trail to reach the Brown Bay Trail, which leads to the bay and its remote snorkeling.

  • 7. Ram Head Trail

    Walk 1 mile (1.6 km) uphill from Salt Pond Bay across a rocky beach and hills of cacti to a spectacular view. A local favorite on full-moon nights.

  • 8. Lameshur

    This area has three trails. The short Yawzi Point Trail leads from the beach to a promontory. The Lameshur and Bordeaux trails start just past the beach at the road’s end; the first is 1 mile (1.6 km) to Reef Bay and the second runs about a mile uphill to Bordeaux Road.

  • 9. Reef Bay Trail

    While you can trek the 2.2 miles (3.5 km) from Centerline Road to the ruins at the Reef Bay Plantation by yourself, a Virgin Islands National Park trip provides a boat ride back to Cruz Bay (seeReef Bay Hike).

  • 10. Petroglyphs

    A short trail heads off the Reef Bay Trail to pools rimed with petroglyphs, possibly inscribed by Taino Indians.
